Kabul airport blast kills 72, including 12 US soldiers

Two suicide bombings outside an airport in the Afghan capital, Kabul, have killed at least 72 people, including 12 US soldiers, and injured more than 140 others. The militant group ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack.
However, a few hours after the suicide bombings outside the airport, between Thursday and Friday night, Kabul erupted with a loud explosion. Kabul resounded with the blast, AFP news agency quoted its staff as saying.
Since there was no administration after the Taliban took over Kabul, the nature and location of the blast could not be immediately determined.
Earlier, Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said, "We can confirm that many American soldiers were killed in today's attack on Kabul Airport. Several injured personnel are being treated. Many Afghans were also targeted.
According to Reuters, the head of US Central Command, General Frank Mackenzie, confirmed that 12 US soldiers were killed and 15 others were injured in the Kabul airport attack.
During a news briefing at the Pentagon, General Mackenzie said that there was a shooting after the blast
Dozens of bodies can be seen in videos shared by journalists on social media.
According to British media, 60 people have been killed and more than 140 injured in the attack so far.
Earlier, Kirby said the first blast occurred at the Abbey Gate of Kabul Airport, while the second took place near the Baron Hotel, a short distance from the Abbey Gate.
On the other hand, Taliban spokesman Sohail Shaheen said in a statement, "I confirm the two bombings in the US-administered area. According to initial reports, 13 people have been killed and 52 injured.
"We strongly condemn this incident and will do everything possible to bring those responsible to justice."
Qari Muhammad Yousaf, a Taliban spokesman in Kabul, told Urdu News that the blasts took place in the part of Kabul airport controlled by US forces. Qari Muhammad Yusuf said that there were two to three explosions. "Up to 50 civilians have been martyred and injured in the blasts.
Two U.S. officials told Reuters that one of the blasts was a suicide bombing.
A White House official said President Joe Biden had been briefed on the Kabul bombing. According to him, Biden was attending a meeting with security officials regarding Afghanistan when he was informed about the Kabul airport blast.

The US will not stop the evacuation process

According to the Associated Press, the US general who oversaw the evacuation said that the attacks would not stop the US from evacuating Americans and others from Afghanistan and that our flights were continuing. The head of US Central Command, General Frank McKenzie, said there was a high level of security at the airport and that alternative routes were being used for evacuation.

Boris Johnson's statement

According to Reuters, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said that his government will continue to evacuate people despite the attack on Kabul Airport.
"This will not affect our progress," he said after an emergency meeting on Thursday. We will continue to evacuate. "
"There has always been a threat of terrorism and opportunistic terrorist attacks," he said. We condemn it, but I'm sorry we have to be prepared for it

US and allies warn before blast

Earlier, the United States and its allies urged people to stay away from Kabul airport because of the threat of a terrorist attack by ISIS.
According to AFP, a similar warning was issued by London, Canberra and Washington on Wednesday night, urging those gathered in the area to evacuate and move to a safer location. ۔
For days, thousands of frightened Afghans and foreigners have been besieging Kabul's Hamid Karzai International Airport in hopes of fleeing the Taliban government.
The State Department said in a statement that "those at the Abbey Gate, the East Gate or the North Gate should be evacuated immediately," citing "unknown threats."

Withdrawal of German troops completed

Meanwhile, security sources told Reuters that "Germany has completed the operation to withdraw troops from Kabul airport on Thursday."
The report said that the last German plane had also left Kabul, but no further details were given by the sources.
